Translation:

There aren’t many routes near MBC where you can jog without stopping. That’s because it’s a downtown area, mostly hemmed in by crosswalks. You pretty much have to head out to the Han River or Bulgwangcheon Stream to run without interruptions, and even that isn’t easy. So here’s a route I recommend for times like these. It runs non-stop for up to about 2km, and if you loop back to where you started, you can stretch it out to 4–5km. The starting point is Susaek Station.

Starting from in front of Susaek Station, you head past the rail maintenance depot, cross Susaek Bridge, and keep going all the way to MBC or DMC Station. The path is a little narrow, but you can run it steadily, and since cars can’t pass through, you don’t have to wait at any signals. After running it a couple of times, I found it pretty doable.

In summer the roadside trees might make it a bit overgrown along the sides, but it’s still plenty wide enough for one person to run one-way. And there isn’t much foot traffic — in the evening there’s almost none — so it’s a great route for running.

Today I started at Susaek Station and ran all the way to MBC.

That spot across the way is where I started.

I wore my Pegasus shoes. Someone recommended them as a solid choice for anything up to 10–20km thanks to their decent bounce and good breathability, so that’s what I’ve been using. Honestly, since most of my runs are around 5km, it doesn’t really matter what I put on my feet. ^^;;

The sole is about this thick… and the bounce is pretty good too. My ankles don’t roll or anything.

My Garmin actually suggested I take a recovery day today, but I’d already ignored it and headed out in my running shoes, so I tried to take it as slow as I could. Still, my pace was way too fast early on. I deliberately tried to slow down, and by the end my speed had settled. This is the same Garmin that told me to rest or keep my pace slower than 8:00.

In the end, once I’d finished, it came out to 7:30 — not bad at all. They say the occasional short run, just to keep from losing your feel for it, actually helps when you’re trying to stick with exercise. A quick run about two hours after dinner, followed by a shower, and I sleep like a baby. ^^

Thanks for reading.
