My Trainer Left Mid-Package, So I'm Going Solo: Bulking to Cutting
Running · Published 5/9/2024 ·
So one day, deep into my love affair with heavy weights… I got hit with some ridiculous news. My personal trainer was moving away and could no longer coach my workouts. He said he’d hook me up with another trainer or something, so keep up the good work… That was the gist of it.

Wait… my lifts are finally going up… what is this… You told me to bulk, so I ate my heart out and trained hard… you’ve got to be kidding me… Sure, nothing lasts forever, but I’d bought a 50-session PT package and I’m only on session 33… This felt like a bit much. All that time playing the devoted companion, hanging on my every word like the tongue in my mouth… and now this…?? -_-;;
But then again… life is a solo act from the start. What can you do? So what now? The fault’s on your end, right? So my refund for the rest is no problem, right? I asked… and oh boy.. lol The 10% cancellation fee was on me, and they just shoved a piece of paper in my face, going on and on about the terms and conditions… Yeah, yeah… I saw it coming, but it was way more petty than I expected… Forget it.
And then… the refund won’t come until the 20th of next month..? Wow… Even B2B pays out by the 15th of the following month… I have no idea what kind of nerve got terms like that approved or what makes that kind of business possible… but this is exactly why laws around subscriptions and all that keep changing… Gyms need to get their act together.
Anyway, staying mad only hurts me… Honestly, once PT passed the 30-session mark there was nothing left to learn — it was just a matter of keeping good form and adding weight, so at some point it had started to feel like we were just workout partners. I don’t really need it anymore, and I have to stand on my own two feet eventually anyway.
So from here on out, no more bulking — I’m going to cut down to my maintenance weight and manage from there. I’m picking running back up, dialing up the cardio, and aiming for a routine where I work out every day it isn’t raining.

Unfolding the Brompton I’d put away…

…and letting my running shoes get a breath of fresh air, too.

I’m finally lacing up the Alphaflys I bought and never actually wore…

And I’ll be doing cardio on the Brompton even more often.
So now the real diet begins! Target weight: 72. Today’s weight: 82… sigh…ㅠㅠ
