ITRA NATIONAL LEAGUE 2023 — here’s a rundown of the Korean event.

ITRA NATIONAL LEAGE

A UNIQUE CHALLENGE FOR TRAIL RUNNERS

The ‘ITRA National Leage’ is a brand-new country-by-country national league, open to every trail running enthusiast, with the goal of growing trail running into a sport at the national level.

The ‘ITRA National Leage’ kicked off in January 2023 and runs on a yearly cycle. For 2023, races up to December 31 are tallied, with the results announced in early 2024.

Anyone who runs trails can take part in the ‘ITRA National Leage’. To be ranked in the 2023 ITRA KOREA National Leage, you just need to enter and finish at least three of the ITRA National Leage races held in Korea.

Every ITRA member race in Korea that carries the ‘ITRA National Leage’ logo counts.

Over the course of the year, you enter and finish three or more ‘ITRA National Leage’ races in your country, and your ranking is decided by the combined ITRA score of your three highest-scoring races.

Your results get uploaded to your ‘runner profile’ on the ‘ITRA National League Ranking’ page.

This is one of the internationally certified trail runs held here in Korea, and it offers three different courses.

Starting from the Dongducheon Sports Complex and passing through Yangju and Pocheon, this course strikes a nice balance of forest roads and mountain trails. I’d recommend it for anyone who’s just getting seriously into trail running — you run through Hoeamsa, Wangbangsan, and the area around Gipiul Reservoir, with so much variety in the scenery and mood that there’s never a dull moment.

We’ve got international trail running races right here in Korea too, so I wanted to share the info. The supporter is Salomon, it seems.
