Brompton T Line Flat Fix: Swapping to Schwalbe One Tires & Tubes
Cars · Published 3/18/2024 ·

As you can see in the photo above, I got a flat (a puncture) a little while back. Let me cut to the chase… the spot where it went flat is just plain user error, that’s all there is to it. Doesn’t matter whether I’d ridden 50km or 5km, the mileage isn’t the point… From what I was told this time, the air had been leaking out slowly, and since the tire was mounted facing the wrong way, there’s a chance I just never noticed it.

It looked off when I checked it from the front, and while I was poking at it I found the puncture… Anyway, with the bike now unrideable, I went ahead and had it replaced.

The T Line comes with a lightweight wheelset, so it uses Presta-valve tubes. The stock setup uses that red Tubolito tube.

But they were out of stock, so I swapped in a regular Presta-valve tube instead. It’s a Schwalbe tube, and I also went ahead and changed the tire to a Schwalbe One just to match front and back.
Once I’ve worn through these tires, I’m planning to switch over to the Schwalbe Pro One.
For everyday riding the Schwalbe One probably gives a comfier ride, but for high-speed riding the Schwalbe Pro One seems to have a slight edge. And when you fold up the Brompton, the Pro One takes up a little less space and folds in more snugly, like it’s all one piece.
A big thank you to the owner of Bucheon NSM for the free repair — he didn’t charge me for the tire or the tube.
