Garmin Enduro 2 Guided Run: 4km at a 6:55 Pace

I fired up the workout function on my Garmin Enduro 2 for the first time in a while. Other smartwatches would say something like “Open the workout app?” — but with Garmin it just feels like some old-school feature.

Lace up the running shoes… it’s cold, but I head out boldly in shorts anyway.

I’m trying to wear out a pair completely every year, but I’m not sure I’ll manage it… these are still basically brand new!

The heels aren’t worn down at all.

Today’s suggestion: run for 27 minutes at a 6:55 pace. Garmin might look this clunky, but it gives you surprisingly accurate numbers — calorie readings that are no different from an InBody scan, or predicting hill climbs in advance when you’re hiking. It measures how much energy I’ve got left at this exact moment and then makes its suggestion, so doing roughly that much shouldn’t mess up the next day.

I did three and a half laps around the neighborhood and before I knew it I’d run 4km. I was a little out of breath and my hands were a bit cold, but no other aches or pains.

I stuck to the 6:55 pace, just like it told me to. The more I run, the more I find it a genuinely appealing sport. In just 27 minutes I burned over 300 kcal. That’s about 600 kcal an hour, which is pretty decent.

My trainer told me the most important thing is protein… so even though I’m no expert, I try to sneak a little more in at every meal.

Sweet potato, some kind of protein-y peanut thing, and cabbage… that cabbage was looking a bit dark and sad, so I pulled it out to finish it off myself.

Running in the evening gets pretty cold. Next time I should head out in tights. And for the sake of protecting the eyes of everyone around me, I’ll throw on a mask and a hat so nobody knows who I am.

Thanks for reading.
