Why I Ditched My Fizik Saddle for a Specialized One

The problem was the Fizik saddle.

I get that it’s light and well made, but because of that design, it doesn’t feel like you’re sitting on your sit bones — it feels like you’re sitting on your, well, backside. Honestly, the worst saddle.

So I did a ton of searching and bought a new saddle.

It’s a Specialized saddle, and the reviews are fantastic.

I needed something that both my wife and I could use, and this one was perfect.

When I switched to the Fizik saddle, the mount that holds the saddle had been swapped out too.

That means you can’t use carbon-railed saddles.

To avoid the whole thing snowballing out of proportion, I picked a saddle with regular metal rails — good call.

This is a saddle that works for both men and women.

It’s fine for road bikes too.

Finally got it mounted.

And it’s finally comfortable. I took it out for a quick test lap and absolutely loved it.

Here’s a road bike saddle next to it.

It’s similar in design to the Specialized one. It’s built so the load is carried on both sides.

The weight should be spread across both sides, like in the picture below.

A saddle like the Fizik, designed so all the load presses on the anus, is really not good, in my opinion.

Now I can head out to the Han River for ramen again.

It’s been so rough up until now ㅜㅜ
