First Run with My New Vest Pack on Bukhansan

Hi there. This is Tteurak, the one who loves running free.

Today I headed over to nearby Bukhansan to give my new vest-style pack a quick test run — just a little taste of it.

I slotted two 600ml water bottles into the chest pockets,

packed two rolls of gimbap, and threw in a decent amount of trail snacks.

Inside the pack I had another 2 liters of water. Rolled up a thin windbreaker and tucked it in too…

Figuring this is about the weight you’d carry for a proper ridge traverse…

Since it sits snug against your chest with hardly any bounce, it actually feels surprisingly free?

There’s no denying the pack has some weight to it, so my body definitely feels the load… but even so?

I think I’m getting more out of it than I’m giving up.

I’ll have to work on going even lighter down the road.

The season when my trail snacks switch over to yanggaeng and yakgwa is just around the corner hahaha.

Anyway, a really nice change all around.

Vest-style packs — why did it take me this long to get curious about them? I’m honestly a little sorry I didn’t sooner.
