Prepping for Seoraksan's Dinosaur Ridge: My Full Gear Checklist

Daily · Published 9/9/2022 ·

How’s it going? This is Tteurak, the one who loves running free and easy.

This is the Dinosaur Ridge of Seoraksan that I’ve been preparing for since spring.

The departure day is finally here.

Drinking water. No matter how hard I searched, I couldn’t pin down where the water sources are along the Dinosaur Ridge section, so I packed plenty just in case.

Trail snacks. Packed more than enough.

Headlamp and a power bank, both charged up.

Two pairs of socks — that should do it.

My softshell was too cold on the Jirisan trip last time, so I brought a hardshell along too.

This is the softshell cap I added this time.

Looks like it’ll wick sweat nicely.

Black Diamond gloves.

I heard there are a lot of sections where you have to scramble on all fours, so I prepared these specially.

Instead of lightweight poles, I went with my sturdy Lekis to take along.

I decided to use my Klättermusen pack once again — the same one I carried on the Jirisan traverse.

I thought about taking my vest-style pack instead, but with water being hard to come by out there, the pack ended up about 3kg heavier.

Funny enough, I just never seem to find the right chance to use that vest-style pack.

Next time I head back to Jirisan, I’m planning to give the vest-style pack a go.

I’ll stay safe out there and have a good trip.
