Buying a Brompton P Line: An 800 km Round Trip to Gwangju
Cycling · Published 10/2/2022 ·

I bought a Brompton P Line.
[Searching]
After a ton of searching, I found out there were 2 Brompton P Lines in stock down in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do.
I called up a friend I usually go bike hunting with, and even after splitting the round-trip costs 1/N, we figured it’d be worth it to grab them now and start riding even a day sooner. So I put down a deposit.
[The trip]

On the first day of the holiday, I started driving at 5 a.m. and finally rolled into Gwangju a little after 10 in the morning.

The shop was on a completely different scale from the ones up in the Seoul area.
It was huge and felt really spacious.

My buddy here, eyeing the mid-bar model.

Got everything checked over properly and took them home.
The green saddle bag is on the mid-bar, rear-rack, black model with a Fizik saddle.
The orange saddle bag is the low-bar, grey model, also with a Fizik saddle.
The Fizik saddle doesn’t really let you settle into a nice relaxed riding posture. My backside feels a bit sore too, so I’ll have to give the saddle some more thought.

On the way to Buan right after picking up the bikes.
We were heading out to ride along the coast for a bit.

The renewable energy center in Buan.

Snapped a few photos…

There was a sandcastle built up at Buan Beach.

We rode around near Buan Beach for a while and then headed back home.
I already run a road bike, so adding a Brompton makes for a strange combo, but I’ll get around to writing about why on the blog little by little.
It’s a model that’s in short supply all over the country, and even I find it a bit hard to justify driving 800 kilometers just to buy a bike — but in the end, life is about choices and focus ^^. It’s a fun life where things actually happen if you set your mind to them.
Thank you.
